39th Annual Kolache Fest, Caldwell, TX (Part 1)

In my quest to document cultural heritage festivals in Texas, I am all too tempted by the Czech variety. Kolaches. That heavenly fluffy pastry filled with savory and sweet, melts in the mouth and settles in my love handles. The people are too kind, the summer is too hot, and I am trying my best with expired film to make images that somehow do justice to this place. This is the 39th annual Caldwell Kolache Fest, and I’m 39 years old. Coincidence? Well, yes, but it’s neat to think about. I have some slide film that I hope produces some additional snaps from this festival, but for now, here’s round one. I’ll update with more when the next batch is processed.

Most images taken with a Praktica Super TL2, 28mm f/3.5 Super Takumar lens, and expired Fuji NPH 400 (circa 2009). A few images are taken with a Canon AE-1P, 50mm f/1.4, Fuji 400.
